The image is an amalgam of several shots, taken separately and put together in post-production. The zebra was shot at the Toronto Zoo in 2019, and the main background was taken somewhere on a trip through the landscapes of Nevada, USA. By working this way, I metaphorically put the zebra “back” into nature, or give it a new home that in many cases, no longer exists in the wild. As with much of my work, it took several visits to the perfect shot of the zebra, but once I had it, I could create this work.
