Icelandic rivers are spectacular sights from above, The majority of the rivers have their
origin in the glaciers. Hence the milky character due to high content of glacier silt. On
heir way towards The Atlantic Ocean they form into giant deltas systems with very complex
flow patterns. The patterns on the surface of the contributing glaciers are also spectacular
in terms of complexity. On top of the ice you can see annual rings of layers of volcanic ash
from different eruptions. The flow patterns of the "icerivers" and the glaciers are very similar
in character. These aerial photographs were taken from Cessnas and helicopters from about
1000ft. above the ground.
