I was in a boat returning from a tour of the "face" of Glacier Grey when I saw the two elements of this shot coming together. I sprinted for the side of the boat and only had a split-second to get the shot. A second later and the cloud was no longer in the right place. Aside from the composition, I also wanted to show the beautiful light on the ice "waves", and the way their jagged edges contrast against the soft, smooth cloud and flat blue sky.
A lenticular cloud hovers above the "face" of Grey Glacier in Parque Nacional Torres del Paine. Lenticular clouds are commonly seen in Patagonia, and there are a number of glaciers in the region, but to see the two together was really exciting! [+]
