This image is very special to me, A friend came to visit me from USA and I wanted to take him on a short photographic tour because he is a excellent photographer name Alec Von Bargen. I asked my one of my friend her to drive us in a super jeep to a place called the Snæfellsnes peninsula about 250 klm from Reykjavik. I often wonder if I had asked him to drive us to the south part in stead? well this image would not be here for sure. Sometime I think if the fortune is steering us in the right direction? We started out from Reykjavik in a very windy and cold weather and drove west towards our destination in Snæfellsnes. When we got to a place called Hvalfjordur I spotted a small herd of horses not far away from the road, I asked my friend to stop. When we tried to get out from the car we had to fight the doors do be able to get out, the wind was so strong. Out side was very cold it was also snowing and my friend Alec did not have the right clothing for Icelandic winter, but that did not stop him to take photographs. The horses were a little to far away to get a good shoot so I jumped over the fence and started to walk towards the horses. The horses as usual get a little curious and started to walk to us. I do not know way but I decided to stop and went down to my knees and just started to shoot as the horses came to me, I just adjusted the zoom on my 24-70 mm lens as they came and to me I got the perfect shoot for this image here I call "Winter Horses" for me the frame is good and the position of the horses are spot on. Then it was time to jump in the car and thaw my American friend so we could move on.We had a great photographic tour that day. This image was the beginning for me to shoot images of the Icelandic horses and on my book HROSS I use the first images from this series as the back cover and this image here is the front cover. [+]
